Hi there.

I'm sorry that I have given up on making my website from scratch. I'm too tired from trying to reinvent the wheel and as long as my blog stays static, it's a great improvement compared to anything else on the web. I'm hopeful that I'll start writing some stuff in here because I desperately need to vent somewhere.

That being said, a lot has changed since I last updated my website. I've moved across the country, I've gotten promoted for the first time, and I got ADHD meds. I think I may also be really depressed, and burnt out, and a little bit too traumatized, but life's rough and you gotta move forward no matter what. There's no other way around it, really.

My cancer didn't come back, and I'll reach the two-year threshold around November (so, in a couple of months). That's good news!

Chemo really took a toll on me (physically), and I can't seem to find the motivation to hit the gym, nor change my eating habits. I'll get that sorted out. help

There's around a thousand million projects that I've been trying to work on over the last couple of years, most of them abandoned already. One key issue that I've been facing is the fact that I never had the proper attention span to be able to take on projects that'll last for more than a day or two, so anything that requires more time than that goes straight to the mental bin for me. I'm not excusing myself, though, and I'm actively working towards changing that (I'm hopeful that atomoxetine will help me here).

But otherwise, I think I've made some good progress anyway! I'm:

  • No longer relying on Apple or Google services for (almost) anything
  • I've moved away from iOS and got a Pixel 10 Pro that's running GrapheneOS now.
    • This solves the main issue that I was running into the last few times I tried to come back to Android: the hardware wasn't good enough compared to the iPhone I was using. That's (apart from the Tensor G5's terrible performance) no longer the case.
  • I'm not paying for any subscriptions anymore
  • All my music is local, to the point where I'm not even using tools like Navidrome (because I don't need it).
  • My photos library is synced to my personal cloud, for which I'm currently using Umbrel.
    • I know, I know. It's not a server running on gentoo, nix, and some whatever fuckery that people use to feed their ego, this shit just works (do I even need more than an Immich server and nextcloud?)
  • Working as a security lead at my company now Apart from that, I gotta get my driver's license and all the certs I need from work, come back to the gym, travel more often, see my friends irl and maintain a somewhat healthy diet.

Cant do much else either. I feel alone

So I guess that's... mostly it? I'm also trying to learn C++ and a bunch of other stuff but otherwise, anything I've not mentioned already'll go straight to a new blog entry so it's all good.

See ya!
